Hi, this is Jessica Schell from the English Language Center at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Welcome to this video abstract on flipping creative problem solving and persuasive communication. So if you are someone who teaches discipline specific requirements subjects where your students are required to write business proposals or deliver pitches and presentations based on their original idea supported by research and discipline knowledge, you will find these flipped learning sets extremely useful in engaging them in active learning and allowing you to save more class time for sharing in discussion and feedback. So these flipped learning sets have been developed based on interview footage with young local entrepreneurs and they shared how they started with creative problem solving coming up with an original idea and having to communicate that idea with their stakeholders. So each of these flipped plug-in place sets requires students to engage in 40 to 15 minutes of out of class discovery activities, guiding them through the active learning process and then it will lead into a 20 minute in class warmer activity. This will then transition to your own materials. So this will basically take up around 20 minutes of your class time. So me and my students have found this approach in the materials extremely rewarding and I hope you will do so too.
